We’ve just secured our ISO9001 certification for another year.
Great.
But what does that actually mean, and why should a client care whether an event production company is ISO9001 certified or not?
Truthfully, most people see “ISO9001 Certified” at the bottom of a website and either scroll straight past it or assume it’s just corporate fluff.
But there’s actually a reason it matters.
Especially in events. Most companies have processes and procedures in place for how they do things.
ISO9001 looks at those processes properly, from a customer perspective.
Not just:
- “Do you have a process?”
But:
- “Does it actually work?”
- “Do people follow it?”
- “Does it help the client experience?”
- “Do you review and improve it?”
That covers everything from:
- handling enquiries,
- planning projects,
- preparing equipment,
- managing suppliers,
- communication,
- issue tracking,
- delivery,
- follow-up,
- and all the bits in-between that can affect the outcome of a job.
Then those processes are audited externally to make sure the company is actually doing what it says it does.
That’s the important bit.
Because anyone can say:
“We deliver quality.”
ISO9001 is about proving there’s structure behind it.
In event production, that matters more than people probably realise. Events move quickly. Things change constantly. Timings shift, clients update briefs, venues throw curveballs in, suppliers have issues, equipment fails, traffic happens, presenters arrive late…
There’s a lot that can go wrong.
The companies that usually handle pressure best are the ones with proper systems behind the scenes.
Not because systems stop problems happening.
But because they help you deal with problems properly when they do happen.
For us at AYRE Event Solutions, ISO9001 isn’t something we do because it looks good on a website.
It shapes how we work day-to-day:
- prep procedures,
- warehouse processes,
- delivery systems,
- issue tracking,
- project workflows,
- supplier management,
- continual improvement,
- health & safety,
- and internal reviews.
It’s about trying to run the business properly and consistently.
Does that mean ISO9001 automatically makes a company brilliant?
No.
Absolutely not.
You can still have certified companies with poor communication, poor culture and poor delivery.
But when a company genuinely uses the system properly, it usually creates:
- better organisation,
- clearer communication,
- more consistency,
- and a smoother experience for clients.
Most clients will never ask to see a Quality Management Manual.
But they will notice when a project feels organised and under control.
That’s really what ISO9001 should help create.
